Egypt Post Signs Cooperation Agreement with Société Congolaise des Postes et Télécommunications (SCPT)

Egypt Post and the Société Congolaise des Postes et Télécommunications (SCPT) have signed a cooperation agreement on automating the services of Congolese post offices. The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the 40th Ordinary Session of the Pan African Postal Union (PAPU) Administrative Council, held in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, on July 12-14. The agreement represents a culmination of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed during the visit of Egypt Post’s delegation to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, last October. During the visit, the delegation inspected SCPT premises, post offices, and operation centers in Kinshasa to determine the technical needs for developing and automating SCPT work procedures and modernize and raise the efficiency of the infrastructure. The agreement aims at enhancing aspects of cooperation and strengthening strategic ties with African countries through establishing partnerships and transferring Egyptian expertise. Egypt Post seeks to provide technical support to develop the services provided through SCPT post offices, train SCPT employees, and transfer expertise to hone their skills and improve SCPT performance. The aim is to achieve economic growth and facilitate intra-African trade in line with the development of postal institutions worldwide. Pursuant to the agreement, the services of SCPT post offices and operation centers will be automated following the latest technological standards and international requirements for the postal supply chain of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), international quality standards of services, and remittance services. Egypt Post will provide full support to SCPT to transfer the former’s successful experience in implementing digital transformation and financial inclusion, depending on its capabilities and expertise.
